The contours of the 18th Lok Sabha election are almost distinct now. The NDA has secured a majority, although the BJP fell short of the mark. Meanwhile, the opposition India Block is on the verge of winning over 230 seats.
The election results have been full of surprises with 17 former chief ministers in the fray. Out of them, five, including Bhupesh Baghel and Digvijaya Singh, faced defeats.
Who won and lost from where?
1. Jalandhar:
Punjab's ex-CM and Congress candidate Charanjit Singh Channi has won the Jalandhar seat. He defeated BJP's Sushil Kumar Rinku by a margin of over 1.75 lakh votes.
2. Rajnandgaon:
Former Chhattisgarh CM and Congress candidate Bhupesh Baghel has lost the contest in Rajnandgaon. BJP's Santosh Pandey beat him by a margin of 44,411 votes.
3. Arunachal West:
From this seat, Arunachal's ex-CM and Congress contender Nabam Tuki was defeated by BJP's Kiren Rijiju, who won by more than 1 lakh votes.
4. Dibrugarh:
BJP leader and ex-Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal has triumphed by 2.79 lakh votes, leaving behind Assam Jatiya Parishad's Lurinjyoti Gogoi.

Former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, who resigned to contest in Lok Sabha, has won by a margin of 2.32 lakh votes.
6. Baramulla:
Ex-CM of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference nominee Omar Abdullah lost by more than 2 lakh votes to independent candidate Abdul Rashid Sheikh.

7. Anantnag-Rajouri:
Former CM of Jammu and Kashmir and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti has lost by a margin of 2.81 lakh votes. National Conference's Mian Altaf Ahmad topped the poll here with 5.21 lakh votes.
