On the night of April 25th around 10:45 PM, a foreign woman fell victim to a robbery in Delhi's Chattarpur area by two men accompanied by a dog, leading to an ordeal that included assault and theft. Fearing the canine, she attempted to escape but was overpowered and taken behind a wall, where her clothes were torn and her belongings, including a purse and a ring, were forcibly taken.
The woman, while traumatised, immediately reported the incident to the police, resulting in the arrest of the suspects, identified as Kinnu and Rinku Kashyap.
Prior Criminal Records of Both Accused
As per the DCP of South Delhi, both accused have a history of substance abuse and previous criminal cases to their names. They were employed at a vehicle loading company and exhibited signs of mild intoxication at the time of their capture. Local intelligence and CCTV footage facilitated their rapid identification by police.
A Ugandan woman, aged 27, was found injured on the streets around midnight and was rushed to a hospital by the police team for immediate care. She recounted that she was followed by two men with a dog on 100 Feet Road, Chattarpur Pahadi, near the flower market. Her attempt to steer clear of the dog was in vain as the men grabbed her from behind and dragged her behind a wall.
During the altercation, her ring and purse containing 800 INR were stolen. Before fleeing, they also tore her clothing and struck her on the head with a stone. The woman, a resident of Chattarpur, Meharauli, expressed that she lives in constant fear in the area.
Identification of Suspects Via CCTV Footage
Based on the woman's statements, a case was registered at the Meharauli police station under IPC sections 394/354B/34. The CCTC footage and local intelligence led to the identification of Kinnu and Rinku Kashyap as the perpetrators. They were apprehended from the village of Satbari in New Delhi. Both are known to be substance abusers and were under the influence at the time of their arrest.
