A devastating road mishap on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway claimed two lives in Maharashtra's Palghar district. The accident occurred on a Sunday morning near Dhanivari village when a young man and woman on a bike collided with a road divider. Eyewitnesses reported that the improperly placed divider was the cause of the accident, resulting in both individuals dying instantly.
The victims, 28-year-old Chetan Nikole and 21-year-old Rani Suresh Borsa, were pronounced dead at the scene. Inspector Avinash Mandale from the Kasa Police Station stated that a bridge construction project was ongoing at the accident site, leading to diverted traffic from Mumbai to Gujarat.
Local Outrage Demands Administrative Action
Eyewitnesses noted that the divider was improperly installed and not clearly visible. The fast-moving bike struck the divider, causing the riders to fall. In that moment, an unknown vehicle ran over them, causing their immediate death. The event has sparked significant anger among locals. Residents argue that there’s gross negligence in road construction and traffic management. They demand the administration rectify these errors immediately to prevent future incidents.
Police Investigation Ongoing, Search for Vehicle Continues
The Kasa Police have registered the case and are in pursuit of the unknown driver who ran over the victims. Additionally, an investigation has been launched to determine the responsibility of the contractor and concerned department regarding the faulty placement of the divider.
