In Uttar Pradesh's Agra, during the final match of the Champions Trophy between India and New Zealand, a B.Tech student was tragically stabbed. The local police have reported that after the 24-year-old student's murder, unknown assailants fled the scene. Based on a complaint filed by the victim's father, the police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and are now investigating the incident diligently.
Assistant Police Commissioner Hariparvat Aditya shared that the victim, Siddhant Govindam, was watching the thrilling India-New Zealand final on his mobile phone along with his friends Shubham, Shashank, and Siddharth at JCB Ground. Nearby, another group was partying when a confrontation occurred, leading to the unfortunate attack. During this confrontation, the attackers viciously stabbed Siddhant, resulting in his death.
ACP Aditya confirmed that Siddhant Govindam succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while his friends also sustained injuries. In response, a case has been registered and a multilateral police investigation is underway. Several teams are scrutinizing CCTV footage from the vicinity, exploring all potential leads. According to Siddhant's father, Anil Govindam, they were informed of the incident after Siddhant had called them in the evening. Immediately, Anil rushed from his home on his scooter.
Around 10 PM Sunday night, a call from the police brought the tragic news of Siddhant's demise. As stated by Anil’s cousin Akhilesh, Siddhant, an electronics B.Tech student in his fourth year at Dayalbagh Institute, was the cherished only son in his family, living with his father and younger sister. Sadly, the family had lost his mother during the COVID-19 pandemic. After completion of Siddhant's postmortem, the police have handed over his body to the family.

It is noteworthy that a day prior, in another shocking event, a 27-year-old man was stabbed to death in Agra, and his brother was severely injured and hospitalized. According to the police, the stabbing occurred during a neighborhood dispute in Chunnipura village, Basoni, late Saturday night. Upon receiving the report, police swiftly arrived and secured the scene.
Additional Police Commissioner Virendra Kumar explained that Dev Singh (27) and his brother Ramveer (25) intervened in a heated argument among neighbors Ram Lal, Amar Chand, and Suraj. Victimized mother Sheila reported to the police that the three neighbors attacked her sons with knives, injuring them gravely. The injuries led to Dev Singh's death at the hospital, while Ramveer continues to receive medical treatment.
