Silent on India's Actions, Criticizes Pakistan
Farooq Abdullah refused to comment on actions taken by India against Pakistan, stating, "It's the Prime Minister's prerogative, I have nothing to say." However, he did criticize Pakistan.
Responding to threats by Pakistan Peoples Party leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Farooq remarked that such statements won't solve matters. He cautioned that focusing on such rhetoric would stall progress in Kashmir.
On the Indus Water Treaty
Farooq Abdullah commented on India's suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, emphasizing the need for revision. He noted that they've long been deprived of their river waters. Through hydropower, thousands of megawatts could be generated, but this cannot proceed without Pakistani consent. Jammu suffers as Chenab River's waters aren't accessible due to treaty stipulations.
India, the Land of Mahatma Gandhi
Farooq Abdullah called India the land of Mahatma Gandhi, affirming that while they warned Pakistan over water issues, they won't resort to violence. He stressed that during the Indus Water Treaty negotiations, the people of Jammu and Kashmir weren't consulted, which leads to ongoing repercussions.
Poses for Photos with Tourists in Pahalgam
Farooq Abdullah also engaged with tourists in Pahalgam, where many lined up for photographs with him. He encouraged them not to fear, assuring their welcome in the valley.
Refuses to Comment on War-Like Situation
On escalating war-like tensions between Pakistan and India, Farooq Abdullah refrained from commenting, stating he has no answer to it.
