Punjab witnesses a massive farmer-led shutdown today, severely impacting railway services. The demonstrations have led to the cancellation of 163 trains and 19 short-terminated.
The shutdown is scheduled from 7 AM to 4 PM, allowing essential services like medical care to continue. Farmers are making their voices heard by blockading highways from early morning, pushing for 13 demands including guaranteed MSP laws. The Jalandhar-Delhi National and Amritsar-Delhi highways see a heavy farmer presence with 200 roadblocks across Punjab. Mohali faces traffic disruption as the Airport Road stands blocked.

A leading farmer representative assures that emergency services will remain unaffected during the shutdown. Additionally, those attending weddings are not being stopped. Following winter breaks, schools were already closed, and Punjab University has moved exams to Tuesday instead of Monday. Bus services are expected to resume by Monday evening after four o'clock.
Fifteen trains continue to experience delays while nine have been temporarily halted, stationed at locations to minimize passenger inconvenience.
Officials from the DRM office in Firozpur confirm ongoing updates for passengers regarding affected trains, utilizing help desks and public address systems for continuous announcements.
Meanwhile, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal's hunger strike enters its 34th day. In Khanauri, farmer leaders emphasize their commitment to peaceful, Gandhi-inspired protests, stating it’s up to the government to decide whether to forcibly remove their leaders or not.
