In a heart-wrenching road accident in Fatehpur district, Uttar Pradesh, four individuals, including an elderly couple, lost their lives on Saturday. Two others sustained critical injuries in this dreadful event. The tragedy struck when a family traveling from Jhansi to Prayagraj to immerse the ashes of their recently deceased son in the sacred Ganges faced calamity.
This devastating crash took place near the Sujanpur crossing on NH-2 in Khaga region, Fatehpur. A high-speed car collided violently with a stationary truck by the roadside. The impact was so intense that the car was mangled beyond recognition. Responding promptly, the police arrived at the scene and extracted the occupants by breaking the car windows. Unfortunately, three individuals were declared dead at the scene.

The injured were rushed to CHC Hardoi for medical treatment; however, another injured succumbed to their injuries. Among the deceased are a retired railway officer, his wife, their son-in-law, and the car driver, all hailing from Jhansi district. The accident left a woman software engineer and her 12-year-old son gravely injured, both currently under critical care at Fatehpur district hospital.
Police Statement on the Incident
Fatehpur Superintendent of Police, Dhaval Jaiswal, disclosed that the family was undertaking the journey to Prayagraj for the ash immersion ritual. The demise of the elderly couple's younger son occurred days ago during a pilgrimage to the Omkareshwar temple where he drowned in the Narmada River. His funeral was conducted on Thursday, and the family was heading to the Ganges River on Saturday to perform the last rites. An investigation into the crash is underway, with a vigorous hunt for the runaway truck driver. An official case has been filed, and further actions are being pursued.
