Police in Darbhanga, Bihar, have detained four suspects in the gruesome murder of Mukesh Sahni's father, Jeetan Sahni, chief of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP). The suspects are being interrogated due to their alleged involvement in the crime.
From footage captured by CCTV cameras installed near Jeetan Sahni's home, it was discovered that between 10:30 PM and 11:00 PM on Monday, four people intruded into his house and left shortly after. Investigations into these four individuals' mobile records, prior history, financial transactions with Jeetan Sahni, and their motivations for visiting his house late at night are being thoroughly pursued.
Initial findings reveal that two of the intruders previously borrowed money on interest from Jeetan Sahni, with whom they had a confrontation just days before the incident. One of the suspects had also pledged his motorcycle to Sahni as collateral. It is speculated that the group visited Sahni’s home that night to discuss the release of the motorcycle.
Two days prior to the incident, two of these individuals were in a dispute with Jeetan Sahni during which there were threats of retribution. Police are now meticulously examining all financial dealings between Jeetan Sahni and the suspects.
Jeetan Sahni was cremated Tuesday night at the Supaul Biraul Bazaar in Darbhanga.

Following his father's death, Mukesh Sahni stated, 'My father was mercilessly murdered by criminals, and it is indescribable how cruelly he was attacked. His blood was found on the walls of our home. This incident is a tragedy and unbearable for our entire family. Our souls are in mourning. This day will be remembered as a 'black day' for the Nishad community, but we will not be intimidated. We urge the Bihar government to swiftly investigate this matter and ensure the harshest punishment for those responsible.'
An intense investigation into the brutal crime
Jeetan Sahni's body was discovered on Tuesday in a mutilated condition, slain with sharp weaponry. Darbhanga SSP Jagunath Reddy confirmed the details.
Jeetan Sahni had his residence in the Afzala Panchayat at Supaul Bazaar, Darbhanga; considered a significant crime in Bihar. Mukesh Sahni is counted among prominent leaders in Bihar and he is the founder of the VIP party. The manner in which Jeetan Sahni was murdered is heart-wrenching. The assailants carried out the attack with unsparing savagery, striking him with sharp weapons in multiple body parts.
Mukesh's father lived alone in his village home...
Mukesh’s father, Jeetan Sahni, lived alone in his village house. His wife passed away eight years ago. His sons, Mukesh Sahni and Santosh Sahni, live outside the village. His daughter, Rinku Sahni, is married and resides in Mumbai. Other family members also live in the same village. According to local media reports, two domestic helpers and a driver frequented the house. The father had also been involved in fish selling in the village.
