On a quiet evening in West Delhi's Rajouri Garden, the serenity was shattered by several rounds of gunfire at a Burger King outlet. Three unidentified attackers unleashed about 40 rounds, ending the life of a man named Aman June. Police have since unearthed crucial information about the case, linking the presence of a woman named Anu at the scene as part of a calculated entrapment using a false social media identity.
Aman June met his demise while sitting inside the Burger King in J Block, Rajouri Garden, with a woman. Surveillance footage from the scene, emerging on Thursday, reveals the woman—wanted in connection with extortion tied to gangster Himashu Bahu—displaying something on her phone to Aman when suddenly shooters rained a barrage of bullets on him, hitting him with at least 38 shots.
Initially Planned Meetup at North Campus
It is suspected that she lured Aman to the Rajouri Garden Burger King, where he was ultimately killed. Police disclosed that the woman had initially called Aman to meet at North Camp area, but when Aman expressed his inability to travel that far, they decided to head to Rajouri Garden instead.
Police are treating the murder as part of an ongoing gang war between jailed gangster Neeraj Bawana and his rival Ashok Pradhan. Fugitive Spain-based gangster Himanshu Bahu, an ally of Bawana, took to social media to claim responsibility for the murder as an act of revenge for the killing of his associate Shakti Singh in October 2020. It is believed by the authorities that Aman had provided Pradhan with information on Singh's whereabouts.
< scroll>The surfacing of the restaurant’s CCTV footage on social media shows both shooters sitting behind Aman while he was talking to the woman. A video clip of 14 seconds, now made public, captures the moment she shows something to Aman on her phone before the shooters open fire. People at the scene, including Aman, attempted to flee, with Aman running toward the counter, but the shooters pursued and shot him multiple times. The FIR states the shooters fired at least 38 rounds.
According to police officials, the woman is suspected of having fled with Aman's mobile phone. Aman had video called a friend—who was waiting outside—shortly before, showing him the woman. The police have recorded the friend's statement.
Criminal Past of Anu Revealed
An officer shared that investigations uncovered the woman's use of a fake social media handle to befriend June. The police have identified her as a critical suspect, and multiple teams are on the hunt. The woman, originally from Haryana's Rohtak, has been involved in criminal activities, including an attempted extortion of the owner of a famous sweet shop in Haryana, allegedly with Himashu Bahu's involvement.
Stayed in PG with Fake Identification
Officers stated that the Crime Branch team visited her address in Rohtak and a PG in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi, where she had been residing. She had managed to secure the local accommodation using a fake Aadhar card. Police noted that she holds a graduate degree in psychology and had excellent grades in school.
The police have identified the two shooters also involved in the murder of a liquor trader in Sonipat's Murthal this March, an act instigated by the gang rivalry at the behest of Himanshu Bahu. Several teams from the Crime Branch and Special Units are formed by Delhi Police to apprehend both the shooters and the woman.
