The world's richest man, Elon Musk, has launched a new messaging service called X Chat, which will be available on the X social media platform. The aim is to compete with messaging apps like WhatsApp and the domestic app Arattai.

This messaging service boasts several new features, including end-to-end encryption, advanced messaging control, and a distinct messaging inbox. Users will be able to differentiate messages under DM from those in the new messaging service.

Elon Musk's Announcement

Elon Musk has announced via a post that X has initiated a whole new communications service. It allows secure messaging, audio, video, and file transfers. He also mentioned that X Money is set to be released soon.

Coming Soon: X Money

Musk's post indicates that work is underway on X Money, a money transfer service. However, it's not yet confirmed if X Money will be launched in India, where numerous money transfer apps are available.

Details about X Chat are shared in the help center. Group messaging and media encryption are improved features compared to previous versions.

Under Musk's new messaging service, users can edit, delete, or make sent messages disappear. While WhatsApp indicates when a message was deleted, X Chat will not display such notifications.

Blocking Screenshots

In a move to prioritize chat privacy, X Chat allows for blocking screenshots. Even if the other party wants to, they won't be able to capture screenshots of secret messages.

How to Use X Chat

Currently, X Chat is available on iOS and web versions. It can be accessed via the DM section of the X social media platform. An Android version will be rolled out soon.
