A UPSC aspirant tragically lost his life due to electrocution from an iron gate near his PG during the rains in South Patel Nagar, Delhi. The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Nilesh Rai from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, who had been residing in Patel Nagar for the past three years to prepare for the civil services.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon when he was returning to his PG after having tea. Water had accumulated outside the gate, which was live with electricity. Nilesh inadvertently came into contact with the gate and was electrocuted. A woman who was nearby ironing clothes heard his screams and rushed to the scene.
The eyewitness woman reported that Nilesh screamed for help for quite some time, but it was too late by the time people arrived to assist him. Due to the fear of electrocution, onlookers initially refrained from approaching. The police have now sent the body for post-mortem.
The Ranjit Nagar Police have registered a case regarding the incident. Additionally, a forensic team has been called to the scene to investigate how the gate became electrified. The police took the victim to RML Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Not an Accident, but Murder: Delhi BJP
Meanwhile, the Delhi BJP has labeled the young man's death as murder rather than an accident. A tweet from the Delhi BJP stated, "Kejriwal's gang, this UPSC student's only mistake was returning to your London-like city. He didn't know this place runs on press conferences by an incompetent government! Incidents like this happen daily in the nation's capital, where common lives have no value! A murder case should be filed against the Kejriwal gang!"
