It's important to note that beneath the Earth's surface lie seven tectonic plates, continuously moving and shifting. When these plates collide, rub against each other, or drift apart, it causes the ground to shake, resulting in an earthquake. The Richter Scale, or Richter Magnitude Scale, is used to measure such seismic activities.

The Richter scale ranges from 1 to 9, determining the magnitude based on the energy released from the epicenter. While a level 1 indicates low energy, a level 9 signifies catastrophic waves of destruction, diminishing in strength with distance. Typically, a reading of 7 indicates strong tremors within a 40-kilometer radius of the epicenter.
