Mere hours after a recent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, the unsettling sounds of gunfire echoed once again along the border. From Jammu and Kashmir to Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat, Pakistani provocations have renewed tension across the region.
Last evening, Pakistan engaged in shooting across several border areas in Jammu and Kashmir including Akhnoor, Rajouri, and the R.S. Pura sectors. In the Poonch sector as well, there was a breach of the ceasefire. Thanks to the army's prompt response, no significant damage occurred, and security forces remained on high alert throughout the night.
Meanwhile, reports of drone activities from Pakistan surfaced. Pakistani drones were spotted over Srinagar and Udhampur, to which the Indian army swiftly responded by activating its anti-drone system, successfully neutralizing these threats.
The tension wasn't limited to Jammu and Kashmir but extended to Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. Proactive blackouts were initiated in places like Udhampur, Firozpur, Srinagar, Patiala, Fazilka, Hoshiarpur, and Rajouri. Jaipur, Barmer, and Ganganagar in Rajasthan also saw blackouts and alerts. However, peace prevails across all states today.
Post-Ceasefire: Conditions Along the Borders
Jammu and Kashmir:
Echoes of shelling and drone attacks were reported in Akhnoor, Rajouri, Nowshera, Srinagar, Udhampur, and the R.S. Pura sector. However, the night stood still with no further violence. Suspicious activities around the Nagrota army base heightened vigilance, although the morning saw calm, with no reports of shooting or disturbances across the state.
Punjab:
High security remains steadfast in bordering districts. Drones were spotted post-ceasefire on Saturday evening in various regions, including Gurdaspur, Firozpur, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, and Jalandhar. Amritsar had been on a red alert but it has since been lifted.
Amritsar declared a blackout early Sunday at 4:29 AM, with power restored within an hour. Residents were advised to stay indoors and away from windows. Pathankot has now returned to normal. In Behrampur village near the international border in Gurdaspur, local residents expressed satisfaction with the ceasefire declaration.
Rajasthan:
No suspicious activities have been observed along the international border and airspace, but vigilance is maintained. Across Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, and Sri Ganganagar, no cross-border activities have been noted.
Gujarat:
Control is maintained in coastal areas, including Kutch and Rann, though surveillance has increased. A precautionary blackout was ordered in Dwarka and Kutch around 7 PM Saturday but was later lifted. The state command and district officials convened to assess the situation across Rann and coastal areas. Calm prevails today in the state's bordering regions.
Despite these tensions, India remains vigilant, with security forces on high alert, prepared for any situation. The nation's border security integrity remains uncompromised.
