A horrific incident has emerged from Delhi's Shahdara area. Here in the Ram Nagar Extension, an elderly couple was brutally murdered in their home. The area was left in shock following the incident. The deceased have been identified as 75-year-old Virendra Kumar Bansal and his 65-year-old wife, Pravesh Bansal. Virendra was a retired teacher, while his wife was a homemaker.
According to the police, a call was received at the MS Park police station around 12:30 AM on January 4, 2026. The caller, Vaibhav Bansal, reported that his parents were lying unconscious at home, and he feared they might have passed away. Upon receiving the information, a police team immediately rushed to the scene. When the police entered the rooms on the third floor, they were stunned by the sight.

The elderly couple's bodies were found in two separate rooms. Virendra Kumar Bansal had injury marks on his face, hinting at a violent murder. Initial investigations suggest that both were killed simultaneously. However, it's still unclear if anyone else was present at the time of the crime.
Given the gravity of the case, crime teams and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) were promptly summoned. They meticulously inspected the crime scene and collected crucial evidence. Photography and videography of the entire house were conducted.

The police have taken possession of the bodies and sent them for post-mortem at the hospital's mortuary. Initial investigations do not rule out theft as a motive. The police state that all angles are being investigated. It's also being probed whether any valuables or cash are missing from the house.
Shahdara police have registered a murder case and accelerated the investigation. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being reviewed, and family members, relatives, and neighbors are being questioned.
