Following a lethal attack in Pennsylvania, Donald Trump has arrived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where the Republican Party is set to formally name him their official candidate later this week. He was addressing his supporters in the city of Butler on Saturday when the assassination attempt was made. A shooter, wielding an AR-15 rifle, unleashed a barrage of bullets upon him. Trump narrowly escaped, the bullet grazing past his right ear.
President Joe Biden has called for a swift investigation into the assailant of Donald Trump, emphasising there's no place for such violence in America. He noted that the investigation is in its preliminary stages and "we have yet to uncover the shooter's motive."

President Joe Biden has ordered a review on how a 20-year-old was able to come close enough to fire from a rooftop at Trump, who as a former president, is entitled to lifetime protection by the US Secret Service.
Republican Party to officially nominate Trump for the election
Donald Trump is to receive the formal nomination from his party for the presidential election on November 5th. He is to be nominated at an event starting on Monday in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The chairman of the Republican National Committee, Michael Whitely, has indicated that security measures are being thoroughly enforced at the venue.

Trump posted on his Truth Social site on Sunday, "I was going to delay my visit to Wisconsin and the Republican National Convention by two days, but I have now decided that I will not allow a 'shooter' or a potential assassin to alter my schedule or plans."

Republican assailant identified in attack on Trump
The man who attacked Trump has been identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. The FBI, which is also investigating the case, reported that the suspected assassin is a registered Republican, who once made a $15 donation to a Democratic political action committee at the age of 17.
