U.S. President Donald Trump has once again claimed to have prevented a war between India and Pakistan in May. Speaking at the White House Rose Garden Club lunch, he stated that he managed to curb rising tensions between the two nations at a critical time when the situation was dire, with seven aircraft shot down. He claimed that both countries were edging towards a massive nuclear war.
Trump mentioned that during this tense period, he communicated with the leaders of India and Pakistan, issuing a clear warning that if they proceeded to war, the United States would hold off on any trade agreements with them. In other words, the trade deal would be halted.
According to him, when he made this statement, he was questioned about the relation between a trade agreement and war, to which Trump replied, “A very significant one.” He emphasized that both nations are nuclear powers, and if conflict started, it would lead to a catastrophe for the world.
Trump further disclosed that within 24 hours of hearing his strict warning, both countries called to say, “We have decided not to proceed with it.”

Trump stated, “We stopped a war, averted a potential nuclear catastrophe, and it was all due to trade discussions.”
It should be noted that Donald Trump has previously claimed several times that he stopped a war between India and Pakistan. However, India has not confirmed this. India insists that ceasefire agreements have not been reached with the help of any third party but solely through bilateral agreements.
