As the investigation into the notorious Delhi liquor scandal intensifies, BRS leader Kavita becomes the latest target. The ED took her into custody and she was presented in court today, calling for a ten-day extension of her detainment. Meanwhile, BRS activists have taken to the streets in protest against the ED's action. Kavita, on the other hand, has denounced her arrest as illegal.
While being presented in court, the BRS leader told the media they will fight the case in court. The Central Investigation Agency had arrested her yesterday evening from her residence in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, and transported her to Delhi. An intense dispute erupted when the ED officials reached Kavita's residence, involving her brother KTR. A video from inside BRS MLC Kavita's home surfaced, depicting a heated exchange between the ED and BRS leader KTR Rao. According to the video, a heated argument is evident between KTR Ram Rao and IRS Bhanu Priya.

The name of K. Kavita emerged during an interrogation with Amit Arora, one of the accused in the Delhi liquor policy case. The investigation agency accused a liquor lobby named 'South Group' of making payments of up to 100 crore rupees to several leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) through another accused, Vijay Nair.
How did K. Kavita fall under the investigation’s scanner?
Last December, ED detailed in their remand report the name of Kavita as a beneficiary of the ill-gotten gains routed through 'South Group'. Further inquiries revealed Kavita's ownership stakes in companies implicated in the bribery. February's arrest of CBI’s CA Buchibabu Gorantala indicates a financial trail leading to Kavita's management of funds. A high-profile meeting allegedly took place, attended by her, where the kickback to secure entry into Delhi's liquor business for her company Indospirits was purportedly discussed.
