Farmers in Uttar Pradesh can now avail themselves of free oilseed minikits for the Rabi season. Dr. Pankaj Kumar Tripathi, Agriculture Director, announced that farmers need to register on the agriculture department's portal to benefit from this scheme. Rabi season is considered optimal for oilseed crops, and widespread cultivation happens across UP. The government aims to empower farmers with the free seed minikit distribution scheme, promoting self-sufficiency.
Selection via Online Lottery
The process to receive oilseed minikits for the Rabi season 2025-26 is entirely online and transparent. According to Dr. Pankaj Kumar Tripathi, farmers can apply on the agriculture department's portal from September 24 to October 12. If applications exceed the target within this timeframe, beneficiaries will be selected through an online lottery system.

How to Sow These Seeds?
Dr. Pankaj Kumar Tripathi advises that in both irrigated and regular conditions, flaxseeds should be sown 2-3 cm deep. The crop doesn’t require excessive irrigation but to ensure better yield, 2-3 irrigation cycles should be followed. Before sowing, flaxseeds must be treated with Carbendazim at a rate of 2.5 to 3 grams per kg of seed.
