In a gripping tale of crime and swift justice, a woman living in a live-in relationship in Delhi's Tilak Nagar area was tragically murdered, with the suspect being promptly arrested within 24 hours. The Crime Branch, with the aid of CCTV footage and technical surveillance, apprehended the accused in Patiala, Punjab. Following the crime, the accused fled to his home in his i20 car.
Known as Manpreet, the suspect already faces six serious charges, including attempted murder, kidnapping, and arms act violations. Information revealed that on December 1st, Rekha Rani, the victim, was found dead at a rented house in Ganesh Nagar, Tilak Nagar, where she had been living for years with Manpreet and her daughter, who suffers from migraines.
On the morning of the incident, Manpreet offered migraine medication to the victim's daughter and suggested she go back to sleep, arousing her suspicion. Inquiring about her mother, she was told by Manpreet that her mother had gone to the market. Following her instincts, she informed her cousin and left for his house in Paschim Vihar, from where she contacted the police. Arriving at the scene, the police broke open the door to discover the murder.
Dispute over Money Led to Murder
According to the victim's daughter, frequent arguments over money took place between her mother and Manpreet, leading her to suspect Manpreet's involvement in the murder. Police investigations revealed that Manpreet, originally from Patiala, graduated from Patiala University. He moved to Delhi in 1998 and began working in car sales and finance, with his father residing in the USA.
Crossed Paths in 2015
Manpreet, married since 2006, came into contact with Rekha Rani in 2015. Their relationship blossomed into love, and they decided to live together, sharing a residence in Ganesh Nagar ever since. However, Rekha's life was troubled by Manpreet's controlling behavior, which included limiting her contact with her own family. Their relationship deteriorated to the point that Manpreet plotted to remove Rekha from his path and had recently purchased a knife. Cases against him span across Vikaspuri, Nihal Vihar, Paschim Vihar, Najafgarh, and Tilak Nagar.
