The NGT has stated that all respondents must submit their responses in the form of an affidavit at least one week before the next hearing, which is scheduled for November 29, 2024. The application submitted to the NGT clearly states that the pond is filled with trash and other waste, erasing its identity.

In the order issued on November 7, 2023, the tribunal concluded the application by instructing the DPCC member secretary to inspect the site, confirm the situation, and take necessary actions if needed. Additionally, it requested a report from the Registrar General.

The NGT has also directed that if needed, the matter should be brought before the court. In its report submitted on March 12, 2024, the DPCC stated that during the inspection, floating plastic waste such as bottles and polythene was seen in the pond.

The report also noted that local residents nearby are illegally dumping trash into the pond. The park adjacent to the pond, managed by MCD, was found with cow dung and garbage.

There is a lack of a proper sewer system in this area, and an open drain next to the pond discharges sewage directly into it. Garbage can also be found at the entrance of the park, potentially flowing into the pond. Meanwhile, in Bawana and Narela, banned single-use plastic items are being manufactured.

On May 27, 2024, DPCC ordered the immediate shutdown of 36 related units. However, the court has been informed that these units continue to operate in violation of the closure orders.
