Former chairperson of the Delhi Women's Commission and current Rajya Sabha member from Aam Aadmi Party, Swati Maliwal, has filed an FIR against CM Arvind Kejriwal's PA, Vibhav Kumar, alleging assault. Following the FIR registration, teams from the North District Police and the Crime Branch are vigorously investigating the case. Initially, police visited Vibhav Kumar's residence late at night, but he was not found; his wife was present at home.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women, taking suo moto cognizance, has summoned Vibhav Kumar to appear before them at 11 am today. Vibhav Kumar was last seen Thursday morning at the Lucknow airport with Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal was in Lucknow to attend a joint press conference with leaders of the India Block.

10 Teams Engaged in Thorough Investigation

The police are diligently crafting a timeline of events to advance the investigation. According to this timeline, police will attempt to locate CCTV footage to determine Vibhav's whereabouts. With suspicions that Vibhav may have fled to Maharashtra, nearly 10 police teams are now engaged in the case, four of which are dedicated to pinpointing his location.

Prior to this, the police brought the victim, Swati Maliwal, to AIIMS for a medical examination. Maliwal spent about 4 hours at AIIMS. Around 11 pm, Delhi Police escorted Swati Maliwal to the AIIMS Trauma Center, and at 3:15 am, they left AIIMS to return to her home.

It was a mere coincidence that at the time police brought Swati Maliwal to AIIMS, a team from the Delhi Women's Commission (DCW) also arrived to inquire about another case. When Aaj Tak correspondents questioned the team about the incident involving Maliwal, DCW counselor and member Nikita clarified that their visit was related to a different case. However, Nikita acknowledged the severity of Maliwal's situation and condemned the assault.

Swati Maliwal Severe beaten

Swati Maliwal claims that Vibhav Kumar brutally attacked her at the CM residence. She stated that Vibhav slapped her, kicked her, and targeted her abdomen. Moreover, he assaulted her body—an attack on a woman parliamentarian that took place at the Delhi Chief Minister's residence; a woman who, until recently, was an advocate for women's rights.

The police have lodged a case against the accused Vibhav Kumar under Section 354 (assaulting the dignity of a woman), Section 506 (criminal intimidation), Section 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman through words and gestures), and Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt).

Swati's Post

Meanwhile, Swati Maliwal has spoken out about the ordeal. She posted, 'What happened to me was terrible. I have provided my statement to the police. I hope for proper legal action. These past days have been extremely challenging. I am grateful to those who offered prayers. To those who tried to assassinate my character by alleging that I'm acting on another party's instructions, may God also keep them happy. Important elections are ongoing in the country, I'm not essential, the country's issues are. I particularly request BJP members not to politicize this incident.'

What is the Issue?

On May 13th, police sources claimed that a PCR call was received from the CM House. The caller stated, 'I'm currently at the CM's house. They had me badly beaten by his PA, Vibhav Kumar.' After the phone call, Maliwal also visited the Civil Lines police station on Monday morning. However, she did not file any written complaint at the time. Despite the allegations coming to light, there had been no statement from Maliwal at the time. Yet, AAP MP Sanjay Singh acknowledged the mistreatment of Swati Maliwal.
