To welcome New Year 2026, the administration and security agencies in Delhi-NCR are on full alert. Stringent measures have been taken to maintain law and order and to tackle any unpleasant situations during the celebrations.

Noida district's administration has decided to impose BNS 163, an order in effect through Wednesday and Thursday. The administration has made it clear that any events or programs without prior permission will face strict action. Obtaining administrative approval is mandatory before any event. Officials have stated this decision is aimed at crowd control and public safety.

Meanwhile, the Gurugram police have issued a special traffic advisory for New Year's Eve. Vehicles must be parked only in designated areas, as roadside parking is strictly prohibited, and violators will have their vehicles towed away.

Strict action will be taken against drunk driving in Gurugram. As per the revised Motor Vehicle Act, a fine of 10,000 rupees will be imposed on drunk drivers, and the driving license will be suspended for three months. Traffic police teams will be deployed in different parts of the city to ensure compliance.

Special attention is being paid to security arrangements in Delhi as well. Security agencies conducted a mock drill at Connaught Place's inner circle and Rajiv Chowk metro station. The drill assessed police, dog squad, and bomb squad responses to the discovery of a suspicious bag. The investigation confirmed that the bag contained no hazardous items.

According to Delhi police, vehicle movement will be restricted in Connaught Place from 7 PM on Wednesday. Only individuals with prior restaurant or bar bookings will be allowed entry by vehicle. Pedestrians will face no restrictions.

Police officials say the aim of these arrangements is to make the New Year's celebration safe, orderly, and peaceful.

Delhi police are on high alert before New Year's Eve, with stringent security measures in place.

From 7 PM onward, strict traffic restrictions will apply around Connaught Place and India Gate, Delhi's busiest areas. The goal is to control road crowding and keep traffic orderly.

Vehicles won't be permitted to advance from major roundabouts such as Mandi House, Bengali Market, Patel Chowk, Gol Market, Windsor Place, R.K Ashram Marg, and Minto Road. Only pass holders' vehicles will be allowed entry into the inner, middle, and outer circles of Connaught Place.

Parking services will be limited and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Vehicles parked incorrectly will face immediate towing and fines.

Access to the New Delhi railway station via Chelmsford Road from Connaught Place will be closed on New Year's Eve. Passengers are advised to use alternative routes like Ajmeri Gate and Paharganj. This restriction will not apply to the Old Delhi Railway Station.

For north-south movement, use routes such as Ring Road, Delhi Gate, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Mathura Road. For east-west movement, Ring Road, Bhairon Road, and Mathura Road can be used.

In case of congestion, vehicle entry into the India Gate and C-Hexagon areas will be restricted. Diversions will be in place from Janpath, Rajpath, Windsor Place, Mandi House, and Mathura Road. Public transport usage is highly recommended, and minimizing the use of Bhairon Road and Mathura Road between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Pragati Maidan is advised.

Delhi Traffic Police appeal to those traveling to airports, railway stations, and ISBT to take extra precautions with time and strictly adhere to traffic rules.
