Thick Fog, Toxic Air... Weather Woes in Delhi NCR, AQI Hits 383

The combination of severe cold, dense fog, and pollution in Delhi is increasing difficulties for its residents. Anand Vihar and 15 other locations have air quality in the severe category.

The national capital Delhi and surrounding areas are experiencing an intense cold wave. The dense fog in the early hours is significantly reducing visibility across Delhi and other NCR regions. Visibility in many areas of Delhi NCR was recorded at less than a hundred meters on Tuesday morning. Apart from battling the cold and fog, the public is also facing the brunt of pollution.

In Delhi, the air quality has been recorded as very poor in several locations. The average Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was noted at 383, which falls into the very poor category. Overall, air quality at about 15 AQI monitoring stations in Delhi has been recorded in the severe category. The AQI stations where air quality was recorded in the severe category include Anand Vihar, Chandni Chowk, ITO, and Siri Fort.
