Further investigation revealed that Vikas lived in the same neighborhood and worked for the Pradeep Solanki gang. Last May, Praveen Gehlot alias Golu and Vikas Dalal were killed during a gangwar at Dwarka Mor.

Pawan wanted revenge and held Vikas Mehta accountable for the death. On October 22, he invited Vikas to come to a supposed truce on Vipin Garden's 55-Foota Road. Pawan's son unexpectedly opened fire on Vikas.

Vikas fled to save his life and entered an alley, but couldn’t get far due to his injuries and collapsed in the alley. The attacker then shot his head and body three more times. As he left, he took a photo of the injured Vikas Mehta on his mobile. Currently, accused Pawan Gehlot is in police custody as investigations continue.
