Since the incident at RAU's IAS Coaching Center in Old Rajendra Nagar, Delhi Police and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have been continuously active. So far, 19 centers have been sealed. Additionally, the Ministry of Home Affairs has formed a committee to investigate this incident. The committee will identify the causes, assign responsibility, propose measures, and recommend policy changes. Meanwhile, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, VK Saxena, announced a compensation of Rs 1 million for the families of the deceased.
Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi provided details of the actions taken, stating that MCD has initiated its drive and a sealing operation was conducted in Rajendra Nagar and Mukherjee Nagar on Monday. She mentioned that the Junior Engineer was terminated and the Assistant Engineer was suspended in connection with this matter. Moreover, directions have been issued to take action against coaching centers operating without permission from the municipal corporation.
What Mayor Shelly Oberoi Said
Shelly Oberoi explained that after learning about the incident, she wrote a letter to the MCD Commissioner requesting action against illegal coaching institutions and responsible officials. She said, on Sunday, they sealed 13 illegal institutions in Rajendra Nagar during a sealing drive. The drive continued on Monday, sealing 6 additional coaching institutions.
She also highlighted that an emergency meeting with officials from MCD, Jal Board, and PWD was conducted to address actions against illegal institutions across Delhi. She assured that strict action would be taken against any officer found responsible in this case.

Action on Illegal Encroachments
MCD sealed five properties in Old Rajendra Nagar, Karol Bagh, including the basements of coaching centers, and one property in the Civil Line Zone. Additionally, in Karol Bagh Zone, unauthorized encroachments outside coaching centers were removed. MCD is conducting surveys in all zones to identify coaching centers and other properties violating regulations in basements.
MCD Survey on Regulation Violating Institutions
In the southern region, MCD issued notices to 60 libraries and 8 coaching institutions for violating regulations. The corporation continues surveys to identify coaching centers and other properties flouting rules in basements across all areas.
Action in Mukherjee Nagar
On Monday, MCD sealed 'Drishti (The Vision)' coaching center in Nehru Vihar. During a survey, it was found operating in the joint basement of Towers 1, 2, and 3, which has now been sealed. MCD stated that the sealing was due to violation of building regulations, using the basement for coaching/teaching purposes.

On the preceding Sunday, MCD sealed 13 coaching centers operating illegally in basements. Notices were also pasted on these centers. This crackdown was initiated after three students died due to sudden waterlogging in a coaching center basement in Rajendra Nagar. Major Student Protest in Mukherjee Nagar
Following the tragic incident in Rajendra Nagar, resulting in the death of three students, there was a significant protest by students in Mukherjee Nagar on Monday night.
