On 5th February, voting will commence across all 70 assembly seats of Delhi in a single phase, with results announced on 8th February. The ruling AAP is aiming for a hat trick after winning 67 and 62 seats in 2015 and 2020, respectively. This year, the total voter count for the election in Delhi stands at over 15.5 million, including 8,349,645 male, 7,173,952 female, and 1,261 third-gender voters.
Appeal by the Chief Minister
The Chief Minister had stated she needs 4 million rupees to contest the elections and encouraged people to help by donating anywhere from 100 to 1,000 rupees, which would assist her in the campaign.
While appealing to people, Atishi emphasized that people of Delhi have previously supported AAP. The collective small contributions have been pivotal in contesting and winning elections. Notably, even Delhi's poorest have donated amounts ranging from 10 to 100 rupees. Additionally, support has also been received from other parts of the country.
Keijriwal Government Dedicated to the People: CM
The Chief Minister further expressed that AAP’s honest politics stands out because they haven’t sought funds from corporates or wealthy individuals. The significant issue arises when candidates and parties receive funding from powerful figures, obliging them to work for these entities and repay through contracts. However, the Keijriwal government has focused on public welfare, assisting us in our fight. Had we relied on large donors, we wouldn't have been able to provide free water, electricity, neighborhood clinics, and education.
