In a bold joint operation by the police forces of Bihar and Delhi in Rohini, Delhi, four infamous criminals, including the high-profile gangster Ranjan Pathak, met their end. The DGP of Bihar shared with 'Aaj Tak' the sinister plan of this gang to incite fear during the elections. Ranjan Pathak and his gang, known as Sigma and Company, had been executing significant crimes in Sitamarhi, Bihar, and surrounding areas for the past six years.
The DGP elaborated via a phone call with Aaj Tak/India Today that during the election period, the gang was on the lookout for carrying out major assaults. Ranjan Pathak and his associates operated as contract killers, and they have been long sought by the Sitamarhi police.

The DGP noted that Ranjan and his gang consistently provoked fear in the community with five major murders, which compounded the local administration's challenges by inciting dread and anger among the populace.
This outlaw group was recognized under the moniker Sigma and Company. Recently, this gang was responsible for the murder of Ganesh Sharma, the district president of the Brahmarshi society in the region, causing unrest within the community.

The DGP revealed an alert surfaced that the gang, post-murder, tended to take refuge in Delhi. Acting on this intelligence, the Bihar police engaged with the Delhi Police Crime Branch, setting the stage for this successful operation. Ranjan Pathak and his crew were long-standing significant challenges for the Bihar police force.
Shots hit bulletproof vests of four officers during the encounter
It was informed to the police that the gang was present in Delhi. Consequently, in collaboration between Delhi and Bihar police, on the intervening night of October 22 and 23 approximately at 2:20 am, they approached the specific location to commence checks, stretching from Bahadur Shah Marg, Dr. Ambedkar Chowk to Pansali Chowk. A dramatic chase ensued with the gang members.
A fierce exchange of gunfire between police and the criminals transpired, leading to all four gang members sustaining severe injuries. They were promptly transported to the Dr. BSA hospital in Rohini for medical attention, where they were declared deceased. During the skirmish, bullets struck the bulletproof vests of the Delhi police crime branch officers, including Inspector Arvind, SI Manish, SI Naveen, and four others.
