The sequence of terror attacks began on June 9 in Reasi, where an assault on a bus carrying pilgrims led to it crashing into a deep gorge. The ambush was carried out at around 6:15 PM, with the terrorists targeting the bus from their hideout in the hilly terrain.
TRF, a faction linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for this attack. These militants have been involved in multiple attacks over the past month in Rajouri and Poonch. According to sources, two to three assailants participated in the Reasi bus attack, who were believed to be Pakistani terrorists.
