COVID-19 extends reach in Madhya Pradesh, two infected in Indore

New COVID-19 cases emerge in Indore, with one patient from Gujarat’s Ahmedabad and the other returning resident from Kerala. Once again, COVID-19 is making its presence felt in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. On Saturday, the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), Dr. B.S. Saithya, revealed that two individuals were confirmed as having COVID-19. Both tested positive on May 22 in a private lab in Indore.

According to a news agency report, CMHO Saithya explained that among the infected, a 30-year-old man is from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, while the other, a 33-year-old man, is a resident of Indore who recently returned from his home state of Kerala.

Efforts are underway to trace the current whereabouts of the patient from Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, the resident of Indore has been quarantined at home, with health officials monitoring his condition closely.

Dr. Saithya further stated that additional samples from both patients were collected for confirmation testing at a government laboratory. Additionally, for identification of the infection type, samples have been dispatched to Bhopal for genomic sequencing.

The health department team is diligently compiling a list of individuals who came in contact with the two patients to prevent the virus from spreading further. As a precautionary measure, surveillance in Indore district is being intensified. The department urges people to get tested immediately upon experiencing any symptoms and to avoid crowded places. This news has prompted the health department to resume its alert mode, with constant monitoring of the situation.

According to the health department, there’s no need to panic, but it’s crucial to remain vigilant. Adhering to all COVID-19 prevention rules and undergoing timely checks remain imperative.
