A new twist has emerged in the case of Rajasthan's notorious gangster Anandpal Singh’s encounter. The Jodhpur court has rejected the CBI closure report in this matter. The ACJM CBI court has taken action against five police officers involved in the encounter. The court has ordered a trial and investigation under section 302 against the officers involved in the encounter.

It is noteworthy that Anandpal was encountered on June 24, 2017. The family alleged it was a fake encounter and filed a case.

After the encounter, Anandpal's family claimed it was a fake encounter and challenged it in court. The CBI submitted a closure report negating the fake encounter claim. However, Anandpal’s wife’s lawyer argued that there were injury marks on Anandpal's body. They stated the police report indicated that Anandpal was shot at close range, suggesting a fake encounter. Other evidence also supported this claim. The court then ordered charges against the then Churu SP Rahul Barhat, then Additional SP Vidya Prakash Chaudhary, DSP Suryavir Singh Rathore, and RAC Head Constable Kailash.
