In recent days, Delhi's former legislator Manish Sisodia, alongside Punjab's Education Minister and other officials, visited various government schools across districts. This tour has been met with staunch opposition from the Democratic Teachers Front (DTF) of Punjab. The DTF has expressed concern over outsiders inspecting Punjab's schools, labeling it as inappropriate. A meeting has been scheduled by the group to address these concerns.

The DTF's General Secretary, Mohinder Singh, stated, "We strongly oppose Manish Sisodia's visit. Attempting to introduce the Delhi model here is inappropriate, as it has already proved unsuccessful in Delhi. Such intrusion is unacceptable when it comes to Punjab's pride and independence."

Why is Manish Sisodia Inspecting Punjab's Schools?

Punjab Congress legislator Pargat Singh has also raised questions, asking both Manish Sisodia and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, "On what authority is Manish Sisodia inspecting Punjab's schools? The Delhi model has been dismissed within Delhi itself. It's improper for unsuccessful individuals to interfere in Punjab."

Dismissed Delhi Education Model's Political Rejection

Vikram Dev Singh, the state President of DTF, commented, "Punjab's Education Minister and Delhi leader Manish Sisodia are assessing schools across districts and providing directives to teachers. Last year, on Teacher’s Day, Punjab's government announced its education policy, yet it remains confined to paperwork, while there's an emphasis on adopting Delhi's politically rejected education model here in Punjab."

DTF Meeting Scheduled on February 23

The DTF emphasized that Punjab's education policy should align with local circumstances. A strategy session is planned for the 23rd, where Sisodia’s and others' visits will be opposed. It's crucial for decisions about local education policies and actions to be made with a deep understanding of the local context to guide the state’s education system in the right direction.
