The comments made by Chief Justice B.R. Gavai regarding the statue of Lord Vishnu in Khajuraho have triggered a wave of reactions. Following lawyer Vineet Jindal, lawyer Satyam Singh Rajput has also written an open letter to Chief Justice Gavai, opposing his remarks on the statue of Lord Vishnu in Khajuraho.
Lawyer Satyam Singh has urged the CJI to reconsider and retract these comments and to issue an 'appropriate clarification' to 'restore the faith of all religious communities'.
He wrote that as a devoted follower of Lord Vishnu, he is personally shocked by these remarks. The devotion and faith that millions of Hindus have in Lord Vishnu is not just a matter of personal belief but the foundation of their spiritual existence and cultural identity.
"Preserving the Dignity of Faith..."
Meanwhile, in his letter, Vineet Jindal wrote, "As a follower of Sanatan Dharma, I have written this letter to the CJI. It demands the immediate retraction of his objectionable statement against Lord Vishnu and Sanatan faith. A copy of this letter has also been sent to the esteemed President of India, so that this matter receives national attention. I hope the Supreme Court and the Honorable President will take this issue seriously and uphold the dignity of every religion in India."
What's the Entire Issue?
A petition to repair and maintain the damaged statue of Lord Vishnu at the renowned Javari Temple in Khajuraho was dismissed by Chief Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice Augustine George Masih's bench, stating that this matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Archaeological Survey of India, not the court. During this, CJI Gavai made a jesting remark, suggesting that now you should pray directly to God. If you claim to be a staunch devotee of Lord Vishnu, then pray to him now.
