Amidst a tumultuous land squabble, an FIR has been logged against Manorama Khedkar, mother to probationary IAS officer Pooja Khedkar. Despite the serious allegations, the Pune police have yet to establish contact with Manorama, raising questions about their efficacy.
Manorama Khedkar became a subject of controversy when a video depiction of her ostensibly threatening people with a firearm during a property conflict went viral. Following the incident, police action was initiated against Manorama and her husband Dilip Khedkar, along with five accomplices.
An officer from the Pune rural police shared with PTI that a senior official, alongside a police unit, visited Manorama's home on Baner Road but failed to locate her. Attempts to approach the residence on Sunday and Monday were futile, as they couldn't even gain entry into the area.
The officer stated that Manorama's mobile phone remains switched off. As soon as her whereabouts are determined, the investigation will unfold and legal proceedings will commence. The Khedkar couple and five others face charges at the Paud police station under the Indian Penal Code section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) among other related sections.
Let us reiterate that this issue was registered days after a social media video became widespread, showing Manorama engaging in a heated altercation in Dhadvale village of Mulshi taluka in Pune, with her security guards while brandishing a pistol.
