The Congress Party has officially registered a complaint against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his comments that compared their manifesto to the Muslim League's agenda. Addressing a rally on April 6th in Ajmer, Rajasthan, Modi critiqued the Congress manifesto as a 'bundle of lies', insinuating that its contents suggest a fragmentation of India.
Modi contended, 'The Congress manifesto, tainted with the impression of the Muslim League, now seems to be dominated by leftist ideology. It appears as though the Congress has outsourced everything, relinquishing the entire party's principles and policies.'
Responding sharply to the Prime Minister's remark, the Congress expressed the belief that his comments were born out of fear over the BJP's potential to obtain more than 180 parliamentary seats in the upcoming elections. They accused him of resorting to the 'worn-out Hindu-Muslim script'. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge retorted by accusing the BJP's ideological forebears of siding with the British and the Muslim League against Indians during the freedom struggle.
