The election season in Maharashtra is heating up, and with it, the war of words rages on. In the latest development, Shiv Sena MP Srikant Shinde has targeted rival Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray for his derogatory remarks about his father Eknath Shinde, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, saying it reflects the former minister's upbringing.
Aaditya Thackeray, a harsh critic of CM Shinde since his 2022 rebellion that led to the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government and the split of the original Shiv Sena led by his father Uddhav Thackeray, has been vocally condemning Eknath Shinde.
Recently, Aaditya referred to CM Shinde as a "shameless and disgusting" individual. Responding to this, Srikant Shinde remarked during a press interaction, "He (Aaditya) has been raised with such values that just hurl abuses and disparage opponents. We have been taught to engage in positive dialogue. Those who've been taught to do wrong will be instructed by the public".
Srikant Shinde, contesting for the third time from the Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency, stated, "Engaging in politics by slandering, using foul language, and stooping so low in Maharashtra stems from sheer desperation".
Voting in Maharashtra over Five Phases
Voting for Maharashtra's 48 seats will occur across the initial five phases. Voting days are scheduled for April 19 for Phase 1, April 26 for Phase 2, May 7 for Phase 3, May 13 for Phase 4, and May 20 for Phase 5. The outcomes for these constituencies, along with the rest of the country, will be announced on June 4.
