As tensions escalate between the US and European countries, China sees an opportunity to strengthen its presence in Europe. Taking proactive steps, China aims to enhance its relationships with the EU. On Tuesday, Lu Kinjian, spokesperson for China’s National People's Congress (NPC), stated that China is ready to collaborate with the 27-member European Union to combat unilateral US policies.
The spokesperson remarked, "Over the past 50 years, reality has shown that there is no fundamental or geopolitical clash between China and Europe; rather, they have been partners in each other’s success."

European nations: a significant market for China
China considers the EU a lucrative market, particularly for its artificial intelligence (AI)-based electric vehicles and batteries. However, the EU has imposed heavy taxes on Chinese electric vehicles to protect local models. Additionally, China is keen to capitalize on strategic shifts following the recent contentious meeting between Ukrainian President Zelenskiy and Trump.
After the controversial meeting with President Trump, EU leaders openly supported President Zelenskiy. Meanwhile, Chinese media widely circulated the meeting's video, expressing solidarity with Ukraine.

Trump and Putin's camaraderie: A concern for China?
The Chinese spokesperson remarks, "China-Europe relations don't depend on or target any third party," subtly pointing to the US-EU dynamics. While Trump's and Putin's close ties pose concerns for Beijing, China intends to maintain robust relations with Russia.
