On Friday, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (CJI) Bhushan Gavai graced the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed courthouse in Daryapur (Amravati), Maharashtra. He conveyed a firm yet vital message to the judiciary, administration, and the legal community.
Chief Justice Gavai stated in his address, "This chair is for serving the public, not for arrogance. If power goes to the head, it turns into sin, not service." His statement served as a warning to everyone holding positions in the judiciary and administration.
Bhushan Gavai was forthright not just with administrative officers but also with judges and lawyers about their conduct. He remarked, "Judges should respect lawyers. The court belongs to both lawyers and judges."
To the junior lawyers, he issued a stern reminder, "A 25-year-old lawyer sits, not bothering to rise even when a 70-year-old senior arrives. Show some respect and honor your seniors."

Direct Message from CJI Gavai: 'Learn to Bow When in Power, Not to Strut'
Throughout his speech, Bhushan Gavai focused on the idea that regardless of the position—whether it be District Administrator, Police Superintendent, or Judge—it is purely a medium for public service. He succinctly remarked, "Once power gets to your head, the essence of justice is lost. It is a position of honor; do not disgrace it with arrogance."
