Security forces engaged in a successful operation on Thursday, neutralizing 30 Naxalites in two decisive encounters spread across Bijapur and Kanker districts in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region. Authorities confirmed that 26 Naxalites were downed in Bijapur while four met their end in Kanker. Tragically, a brave DRG soldier also laid down his life in the mission. The day witnessed security forces retrieving the bodies of 30 insurgents along with a significant haul of weapons and ammunition from the encounter sites.

30 Naxalites Vanquished in Bijapur, Soldier Martyred

The decisive encounter occurred around 7 AM, amid the dense forests adjoining the Bijapur and Dantewada districts. A formidable joint force of security personnel engaged with Naxalites during an anti-insurgency operation in the Gangaloor police station area. The mission saw 18 insurgents neutralized and a substantial cache of arms and explosives seized. However, the engagement was not without sacrifice, as one DRG soldier was martyred.

Automatic Weapons Seized by Police

The second encounter unfolded within the jungles lying on the boundary of Kanker and Narayanpur districts. Kanker Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Elesela reported that during an ongoing anti-Naxal operation, a joint task force of the DRG and Border Security Force (BSF) clashed with insurgents, resulting in four Naxalites being killed and automatic weapons recovered at the scene.

Home Minister Labels Action as a Major Step Towards a Naxal-Free India

Upon this landmark operation, Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed acclaim, declaring that security forces achieved a significant stride towards crafting a Naxal-free India. He noted on social media platform X that the Modi government is steadfastly adhering to a stringent policy against Naxalites, emphasizing zero tolerance towards those who refuse to surrender. The vision is set for the country to be completely free of Naxalites by the end of March 2026.

105 Naxalites Eliminated to Date

This year, Chhattisgarh Police report, 105 Naxalites have been neutralized, with 89 of these in the Bastar division, which inclusively accounts for Bijapur and Kanker districts. Security forces persist with search operations at the encounter sites, while additional forces have been deployed to ensure security in the region.
