Chhattisgarh Disaster: Durg's Fatal Road Mishap Claims 11 Lives

In a tragic incident on Tuesday evening in Chhattisgarh's Durg district, a bus filled with nearly 40 passengers slid off the road and plummeted into a 40-foot deep murram mine, causing 11 fatalities and injuring more than 20 people. The Police Superintendent of the Cantonment area, Harish Patil, stated that the accident occurred around 8:30 PM near Khapri village within the Kumhari police station domain, as employees of a distillery company were returning home after work.

According to the news agency, the SP indicated that the bus, fully laden with passengers, veered off and fell into the deep murram mine. Murram is a type of soil utilized in construction. Upon receiving the information about the accident, a police team immediately reached the site and initiated rescue operations. Officials have confirmed that the injured individuals have been admitted to nearby hospitals, with ongoing treatment in Raipur and Bhilai.

The Chief Minister expressed grief on social media platform X. 'Received the saddening news of a bus, carrying employees of a private company, meeting with an accident near Kumhari in Durg. There are reports of 11 employees perished in this tragedy. I pray to God to grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families. Adequate arrangements have been made for the treatment of the injured employees. I wish for their speedy recovery,' the CM wrote.
