A man in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh had his plan foiled when he attempted to deposit counterfeit money. Upon receiving alert from bank staff, police seized the fake currency and are questioning the individual about the source of the counterfeit notes.
The incident took place at the Bank of Baroda kiosk branch located on Satai Road. A man named Premchand Kushwaha arrived with 80 fake 50-rupee notes, totaling 4,000 rupees, intending to deposit them. Bank employee Amit Sahu examined the notes with a machine and confirmed they were all counterfeit. Subsequently, the staff informed the Civil Lines Police Station, and the suspect was detained at the branch until police arrival.
During questioning, Premchand revealed he attended a social event in Chhatarpur and needed small change. He acquired 4,000 rupees from a rickshaw driver, suspecting them to be counterfeit, prompting him to verify their authenticity at the bank. As of now, the counterfeit notes have been seized, and Premchand is undergoing further questioning to ascertain how the fake notes came into his possession.

Amit Sahu from the Bank of Baroda kiosk branch mentioned that Premchand Sahu's child holds an account with the bank. He brought 80 notes of 50 rupees each, totaling 4,000 rupees, requesting to deposit. Upon inspection, the notes turned out to be fake. The counterfeit notes have been confiscated, and the police have been notified. Furthermore, bank officials and police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any counterfeit notes directly to the police.
