In the Balrampur district of Uttar Pradesh, startling revelations occur daily around Jamaluddin, known as Chhangur Baba, for his involvement in a conversion racket. Following 24 hours of intense questioning with his close aide, Neetu Rohira alias Nasreen, the UP ATS transported Chhangur Baba from Lucknow to Balrampur. He was taken to his mansion in the Utraula area, considered the hub of these conversion activities. The ATS made sure to escort Chhangur Baba alone. He was toured through every corner of his mansion for about an hour and a half.
According to sources, significant documents tied to foreign funding and a laptop were discovered, owing to Chhangur Baba's directions. Even though Baba wasn't adept with computers, his companions Naveen Rohira, Neetu Rohira, and his son Mehboob meticulously documented foreign transactions on it. Chhangur Baba manipulated individuals for conversion, enticing women with monetary offers, and when refused, trapped them in false lawsuits to exert pressure.
In a shocking incident, Chhangur Baba allegedly exploited a woman seeking help, followed by the coercion, "There's nothing left in Hinduism; now you are part of Islam." Strikingly, complaints against Baba's atrocities were ignored. Some police officers from Balrampur faced allegations of acting on his cues, hearing pleas, and resolving them at his behest. Despite being in government uniforms, they were said to work for sociopaths like Chhangur Baba.
The unraveling of Chhangur Baba's network highlights that his deeds transcended religious conversion. It involved anti-national activities and an intricate web of illegal earnings. It emerged that Baba received a whopping 500 crore in foreign funding, reportedly aimed at converting India into a Muslim state, with Turkey and Pakistan providing the support. Despite his opulent mansion being razed and legal nooses tightening around his neck, voices against him still claim injustice, possibly due to his massive wealth that helped evade law's grasp.

Chhangur Baba's greatest asset was his immense wealth. Over three years, he wasn't just receiving 100, 200, or 300 crore, but a staggering 500 crore rupees in foreign funds. Of this, 200 crore has been verified. The remaining 300 crore came through Nepal channels, funded via hundis. More than 100 bank accounts were reportedly opened in Nepal's districts bordering India, where funds flowed from Muslim nations such as Pakistan, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.
Nepalese agents delivered these foreign funds to Chhangur with a 4-5% commission. On the back of this vast wealth, Chhangur Baba became the undisputed ruler of Balrampur. Everything functioned under his command, with claims that all stationed police officials in Balrampur served him submissively. Despite legal actions against him, claims continue that threats by his operatives intimidate his alleged victims, with UP police and officials witnessing silently.

An individual named Harjeet Kashyap worked as a clerk for Chhangur Baba. He was initially tempted to convert with money, and on refusal, false lawsuits were filed. Harjeet recalls, "When I denied, Naveen cursed and threatened. Cases were lodged to pressure me, including rape allegations." The ordeal didn't end there. Allegations suggest follow-up threats from Chhangur Baba forced Harjeet to retract his statements. Dismayingly, despite being in custody, reports claim that Baba's influence still extends to targeting victims, with UP police seemingly passive spectators.
Chhangur Baba exploited his deep political connections to execute conversions uncontested. His malicious intents were laid bare by his plans to orchestrate conversions in sacred Hindu cities. Ayodhya, where conversions of Hindu girls incurred exorbitant expenses, was his focal point. Baba schemed comprehensive scripts leveraging honey trapping and incentives to coerce conversions, with aims to change these holy sites' demographics.
