A sensational Test match is underway at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground in London between India and England. The duel commenced with England's skipper Ben Stokes opting to bat first after winning the toss. England's Joe Root managed to score a century in the first innings, marking his 37th Test century.

The second day of play (July 11) saw a dramatic turn of events. Indian cricketers were utterly dissatisfied with the shape of the Duke's ball and raised the issue with the umpire. This incident unfolded during the 91st over of England's innings. Since India had opted for a new ball after 80 overs, this new ball was merely 10 overs old, yet it was misshaped.

The umpire employed a 'ring test' to inspect the ball. However, the ball's failure to pass through the ring confirmed its deformation. Subsequently, a replacement ball was procured, but Indian captain Shubman Gill found it unsatisfactory, engaging in an intense dialogue with the umpire.

Shubman Gill was visibly furious during his discussion with the umpire, although his appeals were dismissed. Through the stump microphone, pace bowler Mohammad Siraj's voice was audible, questioning, 'Is this a 10-over-old ball? Really?' Eventually, after continued requests from Indian players, the umpire decided to replace the ball once again in the 99th over.
