The atmosphere in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, has grown tense. Amid the case of mistreatment towards Yadav storytellers, a significant number of 'Ahir Regiment' members attempted to converge upon Dandarpur village. Police intervention met with stone-pelting by the crowd, necessitating a police response.
The situation escalated, compelling the police officer on duty to fire multiple warning shots into the air. A video of the incident surfaced, showing a police vehicle damaged by the stone-throwing. Currently, a substantial police force is maintaining order.
Recently in Dandarpur village, there was an incident involving
mistreatment of Yadav storytellers
. This led to tensions between the Brahmin and Yadav communities. Today, as Gagan Yadav's 'Ahir Regiment' entered the village, the police tried to stop them, resulting in a clash with stone-pelting. Some youths in the crowd used sticks, bricks, and stones to damage police vehicles, prompting the police to use aerial firing for self-defense.
The police initially appeared to be on the back foot, but senior officers quickly took control, forcing the troublemakers to retreat. Several agitators were apprehended on the spot. Despite police action, the crowd dispersed, with people seen fleeing the scene. Authorities are now using video footage to track down those who escaped.

Rural Superintendent of Police, Shrishchandra, stated that there was an attempt to create disturbances, but it was promptly brought under control. Peace and order have been restored, with over a dozen arrests made. Actions will be taken in accordance with the law. The police did not initiate any unprovoked action, as forces were already stationed outside the village when certain individuals attempted to incite unrest, leading to police intervention. Several vehicles have also been seized.

It's reported that on June 21, in Dandarpur village, storyteller Mukut Mani Yadav and his associate Sant Kumar Yadav faced misconduct. After the attack, Sant Yadav’s head was forcibly shaved. There were allegations that they conducted storytelling while concealing their caste and harassed a woman. Following a video release, police arrested four Brahmin youths from the village on June 23. Subsequently, the storytelling organizers filed reports against the storytellers. In response, Akhilesh Yadav criticized the state government and honored the victimized storytellers.
