In Manda village of Chamoli, Uttarakhand, 55 workers were trapped due to an avalanche. A rescue mission was launched to save the workers. The Indian Air Force's Cheetah helicopters have been unwavering in their rescue efforts for three consecutive days. So far, 50 individuals have been rescued, with four still reportedly missing. Over 200 personnel from the Army, ITBP, BRO, SDRF, and NDRF are actively involved in the rescue.
Among the initially missing, one worker returned home without informing the authorities, reducing the missing person's count to four. The Indian Army, ITBP, and BRO are tirelessly conducting rescue operations day and night. Today, with the weather clearing, it is anticipated that the pace of the mission will accelerate.
The containers belonging to all workers have been located; however, no individuals were found within. A ground-penetrating radar has been requisitioned from Delhi to assist in locating the missing four workers and has now arrived in Manda village. With improved weather, the rescued workers have been airlifted by helicopter to the army hospital in Joshimath for further medical treatment.

A team from SDRF, equipped with victim locating and thermal imaging cameras, has departed for the site in Mana-Badrinath to search for the remaining trapped workers.
Helicopters Assist in Search Efforts
Following the directions from SDRF Inspector General Ridhim Agarwal, a specialist SDRF team, armed with victim locating cameras (VLC) and thermal imaging cameras, has been dispatched from Sahastradhara to the site of the avalanche in Mana using helicopters. These tools are instrumental in facilitating the search.
A DIBOD system (Drone-Based Intelligent Buried Object Detection) and six technicians were airlifted from Hindon using an Air Force Dornier aircraft, and they will soon proceed to Mana via an IAF MI17 helicopter. This system is deployed to locate and assess the condition of workers trapped beneath the snow. IAF Cheetah helicopters continue airlifting rescuers for medical assistance.
