Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday condemned the attack on a Hindu temple in Brampton by Khalistani extremists. He stated that every Canadian has the right to freely and safely follow their beliefs.
According to a report by Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, on Sunday, Peel Regional Police announced that a protest took place at a Hindu temple in Brampton. Unverified videos circulated on social media showed protesters holding banners in support of Khalistan.
'Violence is Unacceptable'
This report mentions violence around the Hindu Sabha temple grounds, with altercations and individuals attacking one another with sticks. Trudeau thanked local authorities on social media platform X for their quick response to the incident and ensuring the safety of the Hindu community.
Trudeau expressed, 'The violent incidents today at the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton are unacceptable. Every Canadian should be able to follow their religion freely and safely. Thanks to Peel Regional Police for protecting the community and responding swiftly.'
Opposition Leaders Condemn the Attack
Many Canadian politicians, including opposition leader Pierre Poilievre, condemned the recent attack at Brampton's Hindu Sabha temple. Meanwhile, the Indian High Commission in Ottawa also issued a strong statement on Monday, condemning the recent attack by 'anti-India elements' at the temple. This incident disrupted a consular event co-hosted by the Hindu Sabha temple and the Indian consulate.
Trudeau's Continued Support for Khalistan
Trudeau is often seen supporting Khalistan. With unfounded allegations against India regarding the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Trudeau has significantly damaged Indo-Canada relations. India categorically denied these accusations and recalled six of its diplomats. Additionally, several Canadian diplomats were expelled from India.
