Highlights of Punjab's Budget
The Finance Minister of Punjab proclaimed, 'Punjab has risen to the 15th position in per capita income nationally. Today, we are presenting a budget of 2,36,080 crore rupees for Punjab's development. Punjab's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has seen a 9% increase, reaching 8.09 trillion rupees. The government anticipates a 10% growth in GSDP for the next fiscal year 2025-26.'

- The Punjab Government has declared substantial budget allocations for combating cross-border drug trafficking, boosting security, and enhancing sports development. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, a budget of 110 crore rupees has been designated to curb drug trafficking, involving the deployment of 5,000 BSF home guards and advanced anti-drone systems. - A drug census will be carried out in Punjab for the first time to accurately assess the spread of substance addiction. A budget of 150 crore rupees is set aside for this initiative. - Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema revealed that Punjab has presented the largest budget in history for sports development. A budget of 979 crore rupees has been allocated for sports in 2024-25, which is the highest to date. - Every village in the state will have sports fields, and 3,000 villages will develop indoor gyms.
