BSP Candidate List:
The Bahujan Samaj Party has unveiled its first roster of 16 hopefuls for the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, with seven being Muslim candidates. Mayawati's candidate list hints at serious implications for the India political bloc.
Mayawati's announcement for the Lok Sabha election candidates in UP has sent a clear signal that all attempts to align with the India bloc have now ceased. Looking at BSP's list, Mayawati has pitched Muslim candidates in 7 constituencies, evidently aiming to undercut the India bloc's nominees.
The seats where Mayawati has fielded Muslim candidates include Saharanpur, Moradabad, Rampur, Sambhal, Amroha, Amwala, and Pilibhit. Where Saharanpur has seen Congress fielding Imran Masood, Mayawati has introduced Majid Ali. Congress has positioned Danish Ali in Amroha, while BSP has granted the ticket to Mujahid Hussain. SP has nominated Ziyarrahman Berk for Sambhal, a descendant of Shafiqurrhaman Berk, opposite BSP's Sault Ali.
As BSP nominates Mohammad Irfan Saifi for the Moradabad seat, SP is also likely to bet on a Muslim candidate. Similarly, for Rampur, where BSP has given the ticket to Zeeshan Khan, currently holding the District Panchayat President's seat in his family. Furthermore, Mayawati has propelled Abid Ali to contest from the Aonla constituency.
Strategic Move with Dalit and Jat Candidates
BSP, known for its Dalit voter base, has shifted candidate Girish Chandra Jatav from Nagina to Bulandshahr. Surinder Pal Singh now represents Nagina, with Dodaram Verma for Shahjahanpur. Discussing the Jat and OBC candidates, Sripal Singh from Kairana, Dara Singh Prajapati for Muzaffarnagar, Vijendra Singh from Bijnor, Devvrat Tyagi for Meerut, Praveen Bansal from Baghpat, and Rajan Singh Solanki fielded for Gautam Buddh Nagar, all are ready to join the fray.
