The President of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, Bhupendra Chaudhary, branded Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) as nepotistic. BSP's State President, Vishwanath Pal, has launched a sharp counterattack. He pronounced, 'Sister Mayawati considers the entire Bahujan community as her family. Our respected sister is nothing less than a goddess.'
Striking back at Bhupendra Chaudhary, Vishwanath Pal declared that Supreme Leader Mayawati had never formed a personal family, having instead devoted her efforts from the age of 22 to the upliftment of the downtrodden and never indulging in wearing bangles. Her commitment was never to family formation, yet she is now being labeled as nepotistic.
BSP's state chief further stated, 'For sister Mayawati, the whole Bahujan community is family. She is working for all of them. Sister Mayawati is a leader for all communities; all communities are her family.' It is noteworthy that Mayawati announced her nephew Akash, son of her brother Anand Kumar, as her successor last December.
After earning an MBA from a prestigious college in London, Akash entered politics in 2017. Mayawati introduced him to the public before the 2017 UP Assembly elections. Since then, Akash has been very active in the state's political scene. BSP also included him in their star campaigners' list during the 2019 General Elections.
