A wedding in Rohtas has become the focal point of conversation, for it was graced by 16 Garuda Commandos from the Indian Air Force, symbolizing the continued brotherhood and commitment of a fallen hero. In 2017, Ashok Chakra awardee Commando Jyoti Prakash made the supreme sacrifice for the nation. To fill the void left by their comrade, his fellow commandos ensured that his sister's wedding lacked nothing.
In Anand Nagar of Bikramganj, Rohtas, what would have been an ordinary marriage turned extraordinary with the presence of these Garuda commandos, who came to honor the sister of Jyoti Prakash, who laid down his life on November 18, 2017, battling Pakistani terrorists in Jammu's Bandipore sector.
The gallant brothers-in-arms of Ashok Chakra laureate Garuda Commando Jyoti Prakash carried his younger sister to the wedding stage in their palms, fulfilling the responsibilities of the brother who was the sole male among his siblings, responsible for marrying off his three sisters.
Fulfilling the duty of a brother, the valiant Garuda Commando friends stood in place of their martyred peer, ensuring his absence was not felt during his sister's wedding ceremony. This was not the first instance, as they had previously attended the wedding of the martyr's second sister back in 2019 in the village of Badla Deeh, honoring her by carrying her to the wedding stage on their palms as well.
The bride, a courageous woman in her own right, is a Sub Inspector in Bihar Police, just like her groom Rahul Kumar from Dhansoi, Buxar. Once again, the 16 Garuda Commandos rallied to bid farewell to their martyr friend's sister on their palms, participating in all the wedding rituals as brothers would.
