Wrestler Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia joining Congress sparked a fierce attack from BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. He accused Congress of injuring the honor of daughters for political gains. Brij Bhushan defended himself against allegations saying he wasn’t in Delhi on the day in question.
Brij Bhushan said, ‘It wasn't a player’s movement; it was Congress’s movement. Now it’s clear that Congress conspired against us. I want to tell the people of Haryana that Bajrang or Vinesh did not protest for the honor of girls but used women for politics and insulted them. They weren’t fighting for the honor of daughters, but for political reasons.’

Vinesh received divine justice
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said, ‘Haryana is the crown of India in the sports domain. They halted wrestling activities for almost 2.5 years. Isn’t it true that Bajrang went to the Asian Games without trials? I want to ask wrestling experts. I want to ask Vinesh Phogat if a player can give trials in two weight categories in one day? Didn't you snatch someone else's right? Can trials be halted for 5 hours after weighing? …You went not by winning wrestling matches but by cheating and snatching juniors' rights. This is divine justice.'
He added, ‘I am not guilty of insulting daughters. If anyone is guilty, it's Bajrang and Vinesh, along with Bhupinder Hooda who wrote the script for this. If the BJP asks me to campaign in Haryana elections, I will go. Congress will regret this one day.'
Using wrestlers as pawns - Singh
Previously, on Friday, Brij Bhushan Singh claimed that during Lok Sabha elections, people in Haryana said if he contests from there, they would make him win, but he declined. Brij Bhushan said many Congress leaders joined the wrestlers' protest in the name of getting them justice. One by one, many wrestlers were made pawns. He accused Congress of colluding with wrestlers to destroy wrestling in the country.
